Pattern release: Curved Log Cabin C2C blanket

New look on good old C2C lead me to Curved Log Cabin C2C blanket!

Get your pdf on etsy & ravelry ;)

This whole blanket was inspired by Log cabin c2c blanket Heather ( @hookonepurlone on instagram) made this spring. At that point I already was thinking about curved log cabin blanket but had no real plan on how to achieve it – and bam! That gorgeous blanket appeared in my feed and I just knew curved log cabin blanket should be constructed from c2c blocks!
So I asked her if I could borrow the idea – and she graciously agreed!
And then half a year later - here we are ;) with blanket in the making and a tutorial to follow ;)

Addendum 7: hearts sliced sideways (H, I & J)

Last addendum post of heart parts, hope you find this helpful ;)
And after you have smoothened the edge of your blanket with part hearts do one or more rounds of granny hexagon (on edge - [2dc in each ch sp, ch] repeat. In corner 2dc, ch 2dc) all around your blanket ;) and it is done!

H – top right part

This part is constructed from one hexagon and one half hexagon. First I made hexagon, and then while making half hexagon I added the half hexagons last edge to one of hexagons edges.

Geometric Granny squares

I'm excited!
As this was one of my most liked photos on instagram this august I figured I should share how I made these geometric beauties :)
These granny squares come out same size as original 7 round granny square.

Top left

It still needs to be properly written down .. but for those of you who understand crochet from half a word - I made half a granny square and then added rows on top of it. First row was 3 sc in each sp, second row in same colour was ch 3, skip 3 sts (to make 45 angle). Then dc in next 3 sts, ch 1, skip one st (repeat till there are 4 sts left till end). Skip 3 sts, make dc in corner for other 45 angle. And after thet you just make each granny row a bit shorter.

Top Right

This one is simple - make four 4 row granny square halves and join them as you go.
after that make dc border (i made 2 dc's in each space and 1 in row joining points as I thought it looks neater this way)

You can also get it in pdf form on ravelry and etsy ;)

And as granny square day is one of my favourite holidays (thank god it is on actual holiday this year so I am not lying that much :D) I am sharing my latest square on blog for you all to enjoy!

Abbreviations used (US terms):
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
dc – double crochet
htr – half treble crochet (yarn over 2 times, pull yarn through 3 loops at the end of the stitch)
tr – treble crochet
dtr – double treble crochet

sl st – slip stitch
ch sp – chain space
st(s) – stitch(es)
bl – back loop

Instruction repeats:
[ ... ] - used for small repeats;
* ... * - used for large repeats.

Col – color
A – dark
B – light
C – background

While making YinYang sign we will repeat each of 2 rounds and 3 rows in both colours!
For Yin part start with col B for first round and col A for the rest.
For Yang part start with col A for first round and col B for the rest.

Stitches that attach Yin to Yang (and vice versa) are always worked in back loops.
3 stitches from both circles are joined in the middle on round 2 and additional 10 stitches from one circle are joined with those 3 rows from other side of YinYang.

I advise you to skim through all of the instructions before you start to crochet just so you know what to expect ;)

Frame your Granny square!

Everyone knows that granny squares are the heart of all squares and the beginning of so much love all around world and time..
And as part of this granny square celebration - this year I am part of Granny square month CAL hosted by hobbycraft and knitcraft.

As everything new is well forgotten old I thought that this years NEW square should be Frame IT! as we are actually displaying and celebrating the good old granny square! :)

Here comes pattern for this square in US terms:
All patterns for Granny Square Month CAL on hobbycraft page are originally in UK terms (as are this one there) but as I myself think in US crochet terms I thought I should make it easier for people like me :D

Pattern release: Duality Mandala

I am happy to say that pattern for Duality Mandala is here! :)
and now is available for you on Etsy and Ravelry ;)

The Spiritual Law of Duality basically states that everything is on a continuum and has a complementary opposite within the whole. To use an old adage, there may be two sides of a coin but there is only one coin. In other words, things that appear as opposites are in fact only two extremes of the same thing.
// The Soul Medic
Pattern pdf consists of 17 pages including:
* Written Instructions (US crochet terms);
* Step by step pictures.

Flying Kites blanket inspiration comes from Islamic art where these shapes show movement of kites and squares in between are standing still. Duality between existing and flying.

While I still need to finish my blanket .. Pattern is tested and approved by some amazing crocheters & now is available for you on Etsy and Ravelry ;)

Pattern release: WavyC2C Spots and Dots

Aka, swatch size version of my original pattern WavyC2C
WavyC2C is new way of making corner to corner crochet and if I am aloud to say this - each blanket I've seen is looking fabulous, joyful and groovy!

Pattern for WavyC2C Spots and dots version available on Etsy or Ravelry ;)

Still as simple as always with few alterations that change everything ;)
Normally when you work on c2c you cast on 3ch and make 3dc's, but for Wavy one stitch length and count almost always changes but do not worry – there are full chart available for making a swatch as well as set of rules to follow for making waves come more naturally.

But that was in original version too - so what has changed?
New version includes step by step pictures and instructions for making c2c swatch join and edge!

Lovely CAL: Addendum 3

Granny hearts can be joined as you make them, as simple as you would join a granny squares, granny hexagons or granny diamonds ...
I urge you to make a few hearts & understand how the heart is made and only then try to join them as you go. (preferably, when you already can make the heart without instructions)

Pinwheel Block

Variation from original block I made a year ago (Scrappy Rug: Pinwheel Block)

This time I'm using just 2 yarns for each block :)
and we will be following same old scheme but this time I'm only doing first 8 rows (because I need these blocks to come out same size as 4round granny square would :) ).

Sooo .. lets just start by picking one dark and one light yarn.

Granny Square tribute blanket

Granny square tribute blanket made one cool square at a time!

It all started with LOVE sign inspired by Hunters Design Studio that i sort of free-formed using basic knowledge of solid granny square, my own Granny Diamond (the solid long one :D ) and the same joining i used for my triangular madness triangles, as well as plain stripes that formed E :) joined each letter with flat zipper method and was happily surprised they all did fit together just perfect
.. and so the middle piece was born :)
