Pattern release: Wedding Ring Blanket

If you are a fan of quilts you surely know stunning wedding ring quilts & this is a crochet version for those of us who prefer hook instead of a needle :)

Pdf available on etsy and ravelry!
& make your own stylish throw!

Pattern pdf consists of 13 pages of written instructions (US crochet terms), pictures explaining harder parts and colour page for a bit of colour planning.

Blanket is made from motifs and joined as you go. Start with granny diamonds (you might be familiar with these) but for this pattern arrange them differently and then join these new blocks with ellipses and half ellipses.

I use 18 different shades of Scheepjes Color crafter. If you plan to make throw sized blanket you will probably need 2 skeins of shades you will use for last granny diamond round and for joining.

If you are already familiar with Granny Diamond pattern keep reading ;)

Note! On 5th round we join our ellipse to the granny diamonds. And to make it pop more we do not join with sl st in appropriate ch sp but we make each according st from granny diamond a part of each stitch from ellipse.
I've made a few pictures to show you what I mean.

***

When you've made 4 rounds of ellipse it is now time to join it to the granny diamonds. Sc and ch 1.
Place your hook in first ch sp after corner ch sp and pull loop from ellipse through that ch sp.

Pierce hook through dc from granny diamond and make the second ch (at this point it is more like a sl st). And now you have made that first dc of the last ellipse round.

Pierce through next st on the granny diamond and make next dc for the ellipse.

Keep on working on the ellipse pattern piercing through appropriate st from granny diamond.

Yes, I agree – at this point joining gets rather hard as it is not easy to to crochet in the small and smaller hole...

But is is all worth it in the end as now it looks just perfect! :)
