I'll take the same white yarn I used for joining and will border with it.
(there are quite a few videos, but i prefer written word and pictures myself so check out Robin's tutorial if you wish to know where I learned it 😉 )
SO
Abbreviations used (US terms):
ch - chain
sc - single crochet
4 dc cluster - four double crochet cluster (each and every one of clusters will start with ch2 that will count as the first of four dc's)
ch sp - chain space
Flying ch - chain in the beginning of border, unattached to blanket ;)
NOTE: we will be working in ch sp & over dc's (that at this point of our work look quite the same as ch sp) and I will just call them all ch sp.

Lets do this:
Flying ch 2. (you can skip this & start with standing single crochet if you'd prefer it like that)
Sc in any ch sp.
* Ch 5.
4dc cluster in 3rd chain from hook.
Make a second 4dc cluster in the top loop of the ch that closed your first cluster stitch.
Instead of closing second cluster with a ch, form a pompom using sl st in the "root" of first cluster you made.
Ch 2.
4dc cluster in 3rd chain from hook.
Make a second 4dc cluster in the top loop of the ch that closed your first cluster stitch.
Instead of closing second cluster with a ch, form a pompom using sl st in the "root" of first cluster you made.
Ch 2.
Sc in next ch sp. *
Repeat from * to * all the way around the blanket.
To end the border..
If you started with flying ch like I did: sl st in first ch right after forming a pompom.
If you started with standing sc: make a pompom, ch 2, sl st in first sc.
Happy crocheter makes happy pompoms - go eat some chocolate 😜 and crochet ON!
p.s. if you don't mind yarnends too much, check out Marie's pompoms she has made each pompom in different colour .. looks so good! but this time i'll stick with white pompoms ..
