It's been a minute ..

Hi guys!

it's been a minute .. I've been doing sooooo much of the designing and writing and crocheting that somehow blog has fallen through the cracks and I am not here to tell that it will be different from now - most probably that will stay the same :) I might pop in to say something new .. and I might not ..

Also!

I just wanted to let you know that I'm doing most of my venting and blogging about crochet related stuff on patreon now so please join me there :)

And I'm still loving instagram and sometimes I'm posting daily and sometimes just 2 times a month .. life happens - and as always - it's fun to see my people join in ;)

so .. hope to see you there and have fun crocheting up a storm!

P.S. my latest obsession - Daisy bloom! fun tiny triangles with daisy flower in the middle! just adorable :)

I shared this pattern with my besties on patreon last month (yes - they do recieve everything a bit earlier than anyone else) and today is the day I share it with everyone else so go to ravelry or etsy and get your copy of the pattern ;)

The idea came to me at the end of 2021 when I was sick with flu and delirious from high temperature ... and as soon as I could sit I made the octagon.. then life got in the way of writing pattern and I truly hoped I would be able to share it on November of 2022 .. but as we all know I had barely started writing it up then >:)

Pattern release: Wedding Ring Blanket

If you are a fan of quilts you surely know stunning wedding ring quilts & this is a crochet version for those of us who prefer hook instead of a needle :)

Pdf available on etsy and ravelry!
& make your own stylish throw!

Pattern pdf consists of 13 pages of written instructions (US crochet terms), pictures explaining harder parts and colour page for a bit of colour planning.

Blanket is made from motifs and joined as you go. Start with granny diamonds (you might be familiar with these) but for this pattern arrange them differently and then join these new blocks with ellipses and half ellipses.

I use 18 different shades of Scheepjes Color crafter. If you plan to make throw sized blanket you will probably need 2 skeins of shades you will use for last granny diamond round and for joining.

If you are already familiar with Granny Diamond pattern keep reading ;)

Mountain top

Here come videos for Mountain top blanket!

I've been thinking about this asymmetric chevron aka mountain top idea since last X-mas ... pandemic has shrunken down my crochet time to bare minimum so I have not actually made a blanket, just a test piece to find out if it works - and I am happy to tell you it does! :)

Now to pick colours and start the real deal ... but while I'm doing just that, you should go through videos and choose your own perfect colours ;)

Joining square to TinkerBellsGarden

In this video I show you how I join pieces for Tinker Bells Garden.

And a neat trick on how to hide which piece has been crocheted last ;)
(I like my octagons to be on top, so making and joining this square I hide corner stitches underneath octagon stitches)

I use the same joining technique for Triangular madness blanket as well as Flying Kites blanket ;)

Pattern release: Curved Log Cabin C2C blanket

New look on good old C2C lead me to Curved Log Cabin C2C blanket!

Get your pdf on etsy & ravelry ;)

This whole blanket was inspired by Log cabin c2c blanket Heather ( @hookonepurlone on instagram) made this spring. At that point I already was thinking about curved log cabin blanket but had no real plan on how to achieve it – and bam! That gorgeous blanket appeared in my feed and I just knew curved log cabin blanket should be constructed from c2c blocks!
So I asked her if I could borrow the idea – and she graciously agreed!
And then half a year later - here we are ;) with blanket in the making and a tutorial to follow ;)

Addendum 7: hearts sliced sideways (H, I & J)

Last addendum post of heart parts, hope you find this helpful ;)
And after you have smoothened the edge of your blanket with part hearts do one or more rounds of granny hexagon (on edge - [2dc in each ch sp, ch] repeat. In corner 2dc, ch 2dc) all around your blanket ;) and it is done!

H – top right part

This part is constructed from one hexagon and one half hexagon. First I made hexagon, and then while making half hexagon I added the half hexagons last edge to one of hexagons edges.

Pattern release: Flying Kites blanket

Flying Kites blanket inspiration comes from Islamic art where these shapes show movement of kites and squares in between are standing still. Duality between existing and flying.

Blanket can be easily adjusted and made as small or big as you please ;)
While I still need to finish my blanket .. Pattern is tested and approved by some amazing crocheters & now is available for you on Etsy and Ravelry ;)

Lovely CAL: Addendum 3

Granny hearts can be joined as you make them, as simple as you would join a granny squares, granny hexagons or granny diamonds ...
I urge you to make a few hearts & understand how the heart is made and only then try to join them as you go. (preferably, when you already can make the heart without instructions)

Granny Square tribute blanket

Granny square tribute blanket made one cool square at a time!

It all started with LOVE sign inspired by Hunters Design Studio that i sort of free-formed using basic knowledge of solid granny square, my own Granny Diamond (the solid long one :D ) and the same joining i used for my triangular madness triangles, as well as plain stripes that formed E :) joined each letter with flat zipper method and was happily surprised they all did fit together just perfect
.. and so the middle piece was born :)

LovelyCAL: introduction ❤

*CAL - Crochet ALong
Lovely because of all the hearts we're going to make

why today?
because I've been thinking of hosting a CAL forever ... and about these hearts since I saw amazing warmheartedquilt by Jodi (talesofcloth.com) about a month ago ... ❤

Warmheartedquilt by Jodi

& I heard that today is first day of spring and I've been making these yellow hearts for a while and daydreaming about them when instead of crochet hook my tinybaby occupies my arms ..
I tend to overthink things but as part of my personal change (if interested more about that see almost daily pics @underthechandeleir) I learn to trust life, my gut & take a chance more often :)

I've had some color block lately and can't find the right colors for my future projects i've lined up in my head :D so I hope this will give me a looong needed push in the right direction.

Lets test me and you too! and start by making one yellow heart ;)
at this point no step by step pictures (my overthinking brain screams and bites, but I'll keep it at bay for now and share what i've done so far), but just try it out - real simple!

(two month's later - I've caved and added step-by-step pictures :D )
