what I found out about double-knitting..

It is not that hard once you try it but it obviously takes at least twice the time you would spend knitting normally ... and it is worth it! you get two-sided piece of magic ;)
I wanted to make my own circular Latvian scarf, but o well ... while trying little pieces to figure this double knitting thing out I made a tiny blanket for Sam's doll...
And then came a painful discovery .. the dimensions in knitting are 2x stitches 3x rows to make it a square so anything that is not mr. simpletons is either squished or have to be really thought through... and this time I wasn't up for over-thinking .. shocking! So I postponed that latvian circular scarf ..
 

Well that dimensions thing might not be the case with thiner yarn, but I've not jet tested my theory ...

a little bit of Knitting

and even less words ...
as I already said in my dreamcather post - last year for Christmas I made presents myself ..  :) well at least some of them :P

I hadn't knitted for a while so I thought I should :)
and i knitted reyna shawl for my mom. She loved it and is wearing it a lot now - this makes me happy.

I didn't follow the scheme fully (shocing! :D) I just changed lacy rows and simple rows as I felt at that moment ... 

FIRST moment, hour, week ..

She came in this world unforeseen as snow in December ... fast and easy ...
Let's welcome my baby girl Samanta in the bright new world! :)

And I did finish cocoon although just barely on time ... She looks SO adorable I can't stop looking ...

ZigZag infinity scarf

As you may have heard I love math!, but making this scarf I realized that I was having hard times with the basics .. such as counting! I blame the government!
This was the first time I ever knitted by reading the pattern in english .. but the problem for me was to count to 10 ... isn't this kind of funny?
As I see now I just need more knitting experience! because I have some places where there instead of ten stitches are nine or eleven .. and there are some problems with the row count as well, but nevertheless the infinity scarf looks wonderful and if I wouldn't have said anything about that counting no one would have noticed.. I hope :)

Pattern is called ten stich ZigZag and can be found on ravelry as free download.

As I wanted an infinity scarf rather than another blanket, then I knitted long zigzag and instead of turning and going back I kept knitting forward using the other end of scarf as first "row"..

note to self: next time crocheting infinity scarf this way keep in mind that the first "row" should be way longer than intended scarf - after attaching the second "row" the scarf will shrink a bit ..

The scarf of string theory :)

I was recently introduced with the knitting doll and thought I wold make a scarf ... but as I was making it I figured that with my speed this scarf project would take as much time and energy than to crochet a baby blanket.. the scarf I had in my mind would have been a great one tho, but with all the other projects "in the loose" I wanted something that could be done fast :)
So my first attempt on the scarf of string theory evolved in a sort of bracelet slash hand-warmer :)

But I wasn't going to give up!
Next day I thought that if I just took a thicker yarn and found or made a bigger doll as well.. wasn't at all thrilled about prospect of making a knitting doll... I have to admit I was a bit winy for a while so a little birdie told me that it could be done without a knitting doll!!! probably faster too.. with 3 hoops and 2 knitting needles...

Fast Fancy Scarf

I am making Christmas presents - the scarf you see in picture is for my cousin, I have already made one for myself and I will make one for my mom too :)

And here it comes - my first "tutorial" for a scarf :)

1st step

you have to buy a special kind of yarn .. more like a tread-lace.
This one is 100% Acrylic. Clew weights 50g and yarn is about 18m (you will probably need two)
