All the hexies: first 7 of them ;)

Hello to you wonderful people from all around the web ;)

I've been so preoccupied with all the pattern writing I've somehow forgot to post the news here ... but - better late than never and I truly believe that all of you are over on my insta - and I have definately shared the news there .. so here comes first 7 geometric patterns for "All the hexies!"

What if?

Enjoy your crochet time ;)

P.S. Finished hexagons are same size as solid 6 row hexagon made out of dc’s. Same goes for stitch count: one edge of the finished hexagon is 12 sts (+ 1 ch for each corner .. so finished hexagon on last round has 78 sts).

Smaller and bigger dots

Loooong forgotten project - but I found these dots when organising and thought I should share the pattern if anyone is interested in making that starblanket like I had envisioned... ;)

Smaller circles or the first round
Magic circle. Ch 4 (counts as first dc and ch 1). * dc in magic circle, ch 1 * repeat from * to * 8 more times. Sl st in the 3rd chain to make the circle complete. tighten magic circle.
(20 sts: 10 dc, 10 ch)

.. slow progress ..

Stealing moments for crocheting .. weaving in ends while playing with lego ... dreaming of a long afternoon naps for my two adorable kids when I could add some circles to the blanket :)
I think there is some conspiracy amongst them - they rarely nap at the same time ..

Morning star!

Every year around this time I spend much more time inside waiting for autumn to end end winter to start... and always I find myself wondering about all the different backgrounds we have not just as people but as nations. I am planning to tell you about our kind of halloween soon, but for now enjoy the simple jet powerful morning star!

In Latvian mythology morning star protects from evil. It symbolizes the victory of light over darkness. Jet another good versus evil stuff. And it looks great too!

blanket of the stars

It began as a simple project of a star-shaped blanket... and then it grew a bit ..to the size that lenghth around the star just got too long to keep me interested in crocheting further
Well one star is just big enough to cover my babyboy during naptime, but as he is growing so should this blanket! unfortunately I get bored going round the star so now I have 4 stars the same size for one almoust rectangle blanket :)
I made about a million different sized and colored circles and started to fill the gaps between stars - this is SO much fun!!!
If you are interested I can show you how I add the circles with lots of step by step pictures, but for now enjoy the unfinished look of blanket of the stars! ;)

The only downside to this is that I need a lot of space and alone time to do this, otherwise Oliver tries to hide underneath the stars or to "help" me crochet .. so it's a project I can do during my babyboys naptimes .. and I can no longer read a book while crocheting :D
Happy crafting to you too!

light star-shaped blanket

As I was making my first star-shaped blanket for my moms birthday I was astonished by how much yarn it absorbs ... it took me loads of yarn and time to finish it.. and it is still smaller than I imagined it would be, but as I ran out of time it will have to do and instead of full size blanket this one will be just a leg wormer during winter TV watching evenings...
I was quite disappointed and then it hit me! I should have made it lighter, and it would have been bigger! so I started a new star-shaped blanket to test my theory of the holes...

star-shaped blanket

As fellow instagrammers now, my newest addiction is crocheted stars .. the blue one is going to become a star-shaped blanket for my moms 55th birthday.. so for the first time I actually have a deadline for crocheting!

and If you want to make your own you might need the scheme ->

It was the first time I actually drew a scheme myself (I had no idea it was so hard!!!) It is far from perfect, but I think as long as it works it's good :)
and practice makes perfection, so I will practice the art of scheme drawing as well :)
